Govt. determined to complete its tenure: Gilani



Updated at: 0243 PST, Monday, January 26, 2009 MULTAN: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said on Sunday that the incumbent government has been elected for five years and will complete its tenure according to its mandate. Addressing the groundbreaking ceremony in Saraiki language of Head Muhammad Wala bridge over river Chenab between Multan and Muzaffargarh he said that the PPP government will fulfill Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s promises she made during her election campaign. He said the one kilometer long bridge with 15 km approach road, costing Rs. 2.417 billion, will be completed in three years. Its water discharge capacity would be one million cusec feet. The Prime Minister said that Shaheed Benazir Bhutto had promised on Dec 25, 2007, just two days before her assassination in Rawalpindi, to build this bridge and today this promise has been fulfilled. He said the PPP-led coalition government would try to meet all demands of the MNAs and MPAs for their constituents. He said this bridge will reduce 40 km distance between different cities of South Punjab.
